Summer is approaching fast and the days are finally starting to heat up. We typically go almost right from winter to summer around here, but this year we are somewhat experiencing a spring. We had a snowstorm about two weeks ago and now the temperatures are in the 40s and 50s. Next week it’s supposed to warm up and get into the high 70s! Yep, that’s our kind of spring ha!

I’m so ready for the heat and I’m looking forward to enjoying this Strawberry Mango Agua Fresca all summer long. It’s the perfect drink to enjoy on any hot day, spring or summer. And it only take 5 mins to make. It can’t get much easier than that!

The best thing about this Strawberry Mango Agua Fresca is how interchangeable the flavors can be. You can use any fruit you have on hand, or whatever is in season. I can’t wait for peaches to be in season to make a peach Agua Fresca (my favorite flavor and fruit!).

Best fruits for Agua Fresca:

  • Strawberries
  • Mango
  • Melon (honeydew, cantaloupe)
  • Pineapple
  • Cucumber (how crisp and refreshing would that be!)
  • Watermelon (you could even make watermelon popsicles out of this Agua Fresca)

Ingredients in Strawberry Mango Agua Fresca:

Strawberries- yep, good ol’ plain strawberries. Fresh and wholesome- no artificial flavors here. Nature’s candy is what flavors this drink.

Mango- Plain ol’ mango too! I diced the mango’s up in the “traditional how you cut a mango” and then I went a little deeper and got all the rest of the mango that I could get out of it. I hate wasting food and some mango’s have more flesh than others, so try your best to get all of it.

Water- does this even count as an ingredient? Ha! We’re only using water here, no ice or else we’d get smoothies. Feel free to increase the water to fruit ratio if you want your Agua Fresca less thick.

Agave Nectar- if your fruit is already ripe and sweet, you may not need to add this. You can also use honey too. I love using agave nectar to sweeten because it is low glycemic and will not spike your blood sugar levels leading to a sugar crash later on. The taste also pairs so well with fruit, baking goods, pancakes and waffles.

Lime- this is optional, but it adds the best complimentary flavor to these fruits. Highly recommend.

Tools to make this Strawberry Mango Agua Fresca:

  • Cutting board– to cut up your fruits.
  • Chef’s knife
  • Glass measuring cups– to measure out the fruit and water. I then use them to pour the Agua Fresca into the pitcher without a mess since it has a curved spout.
  • Blender– this is the exact blender I use. It’s high powered which is great if your fruit has some seeds (such as the strawberries). Since we are not juicing our fruits and we are blending them whole, a high speed and quality blender is extremely important so that your drink isn’t “pulpy” or “seedy”.
  • Mesh strainer– Straining after blending is totally up to you and your preference. Some people don’t mind a thicker drink, others want it a little bit more thin. Another trick I use is putting ice cubes into my drink so it waters it down more.
  • Wooden spoon– to help push the Agua Fresca through the strainer if it is seedy of pulpy.
  • Glass bowl
  • Pitcher or large wide mouth mason jars- I like to store it in a pitcher or large mason jars in the fridge so it’s always cold.
