About

Hi there!

I’m Mary, the founder, recipe developer and food photographer behind Farm Fresh with a Twist.  A food blog that features delicious, easy, and healthy (with some treats mixed in), food recipes that are gluten, dairy and egg free. What started as a hobby for me has turned into my passion and dream to help people and families who have food allergies and intolerances.

I myself have plenty of food allergies and intolerances and I know how hard it is to enjoy and navigate through life when food options are limited.  Coming from an Italian family, food is very important to myself and my family.  I love making homemade food from scratch using fresh, wholesome ingredients.

I live in the country and wouldn’t have it any other way.  One thing that I love about living in the country is that it’s easy to get fresh ingredients from local farms and produce stands.  When I think of farm fresh I picture fresh dairy milk, fresh eggs and loads of bright, vibrant vegetables.  But there’s a twist! I can’t have any dairy or eggs or even gluten.  So thus Farm Fresh with a Twist was born.

It’s a place where I can share my recipes and creations, and a place where people with allergies and intolerances can look for delicious recipes and not just boring and bland food.

This website isn’t just a place for those who have allergies and intolerances, but loved ones of them too.  I want to make it an easy place for people to come and find a recipe and a step by step guide on recipes that can fit almost any lifestyle.  We all know it can be difficult to bake and cook gluten, dairy and egg free, but that’s what I’m here for.  I share my tried and true recipes in a simple way with lots of pictures so it’s easy to follow and stress free.

A Few Fun Facts About Me:

Favorite food: anything peanut butter.  I eat peanut butter everyday, sometimes 2-3 times a day.

Favorite color: Navy blue

Favorite things to do besides baking and cooking: Four wheeling, hunting and spending time with my husband and family.

College major: BFA in Interior Design with a minor in Professional Decorating.  It was during my college years that I realized what my true passion in life is.  A month after I graduated, I started Farm Fresh with a Twist.

Favorite animal: Pygmy goats! My husband rented a dwarf goat when he asked me to his high school ball. It was amazing.

Items I always have on me: Water, chapstick and gum.  I never go anywhere without water or chapstick.

Most prized collection: Okay, I typically do not collect anything.  I’m very much about the minimalist lifestyle and not having anything that I don’t use, BUT I have a slight obsession with Rae Dunn mugs.  I absolutely love them- the simplicity, the size, the font.  I use them every morning and they make me very happy. But I promise that’s the only thing I collect haha!

First job: Technically speaking my first job was a counselor at a YMCA camp but since I was legally too young to get paid, I only got volunteer hours.  My first paying job was at a local ice cream and chocolate shop.  I worked there throughout high school and part way through college.  It’s where I learned a lot about chocolate, and how to make different chocolate treats.  I also decorated ice cream cakes and cupcakes.  I loved the creative aspect of it!

Favorite music artist: I’m a country girl through and through but my all-time favorite artist is Kip Moore.  I know every single one of his songs and according to Spotify I’m in his top 1% of listeners.  Is that a good or bad thing? Ha!

Favorite meal of the day: Breakfast! It’s the hardest meal to make without gluten or eggs, but I’ve created many recipes here on Farm Fresh with a Twist that are free from common allergies and intolerances.  I promise you’ll never miss them again!

It means so much to me that I get to share recipes and help people and families with the gift of food. Thank you for being here and stopping by!
